Eleven botanicals combine in symphonic sublimity to tickle our gustatory cells each time we drink Hendrick’s Gin – the worlds most unusual gin. As we start Annus Ginibilis (our name for 2018), let’s venture forth into the unknown and explore the hidden treasures lying undiscovered within gin cocktails. All gins contain botanical infusions to achieve their unique flavour signature, and all things botanical remain monumentally popular this year. Hendrick’s Gin, notable for its use of cucumber and rose petals, invites all budding enthusiasts to explore and take inspiration in stirring up their own tipple.

Shaun Stemmett, South African Brand Manager for Hendrick’s Gin, says, “Hendrick’s Gin’s wondrous botanical signature proudly comprises of a range of botanicals from all over the world. The 11 botanicals include flowers, roots, fruits, and seeds, and they all uniquely function to complement, and raise the bar for our delicious gin. This year, we will be dedicating a month to the discovery of each of our botanicals: Juniper, Yarrow, Elderflower, Orange Peel, Angelica Root, Caraway, Chamomile, Coriander, Cubeb Berry, Orris Root, and Lemon.”

This January, we tip our hat to the original Hendrick’s Gin tipple – the Hendrick’s Gin and Tonic served with slices of cucumber and garnished with red rose petals.

“As highballs and quick serves are currently on the rise, a simple 3 or 4 step tipple guide will leave you with more time for exploration – simply dial up one of the 11 botanicals in Hendrick’s Gin and a new world of Hendrick’s and Tonics will present itself,” comments Marson Strydom, South African Brand Mixologist. “For example, Hendrick’s Gin is primarily infused with English Cucumber and Bulgarian Rose. Traditionally, it is served with a cold, crisp, and refreshing tonic water; however if one uses the pink Fitch & Leedes sparkling rose and cucumber tonic, one would get a ‘H&T Intense’ (to borrow an expression from perfumeries) – a H&T with far stronger flavours of rose and cucumber.”

By stately increasing a specific note with the delightful H&T you can open up a new door to exploration. As Hendrick’s Gin’s perfect serve, the H&T provides a delicious base from which to explore various flavours and achieve an unprecedented panoply of sensory enlightenment.
