Africology, one of South Africa’s most sought after spa brands, now has a branch in the bustling Parks suburb, and conveniently situated 5 minutes form my house. And if you have been wondering what that great new scent is that drifts up and down 4th Ave Parkhurst, then that’s Africology!

Africology Opens its doors in Parkhhurst

A while back I was invited to the Spring opening event at the Africology Parkhurst store and enjoyed an evening of indulging the senses. Music, drinks, 5 star snacks, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Andre Schwartz and Miss SA Rolene Strauss, the unveiling of the newly launched Africology Diffuser range (available in Coffee & Rose and Neroli) and the Grape Stem Cell technology all contributed to, what I would consider, a rather fantastic evening – especially due to the ongoing flow of rather great wine 🙂

Africology founder and CEO Renchia Droganis, educated us on the newly launched Grape Stem Cell technology. A treatment I am very excited about and looking forward to try out soon. In essence, Grape Stem Cell protects longevity of skin stem cells, delays senescence of essentials cells and combats chronological aging.  This new technology stimulates keratinocytes tosecrete growth factors that can enhance the synthesis of collagen and elastin in the dermis – simply, it ‘rejuvenates’ the skin matrix thanks to its growth factor like activity, and boosts collagen and elastin production, reviving skin texture.

Mingling up a storm at the opening.

Combining a unique retail experience with spa facilities, the Africology Parkhurst store is one of my favourite spa spots to visit. The Africology product range is available at the store and the treatment area, situated downstairs, offers clients two individual and one couple treatment room where they can enjoy a variety of treatments such as massages, facials, grooming and more.

In addition, they have a great selection of natural products – for those of us that refuse to use anything with sulphides and parabens. From body to hair and skin care, their products were lovingly made with both nature and ourselves on mind – and what’s more, that definitive neroli spa scent is great when you use the body wash in the shower.

For the home spa feel - I highly recommend these two from Africology.

And for a hand soap with a different, try their home made soap bars, complete with bits and pieces of herbs and flowers mixed right in.

I was lucky enough to experience the unique Intonga Amasatchi massage treatment (R680 for 75 minutes). We know that the body has a memory of all emotional experiences and an inability to let go often expresses itself in the body and leads to low immunity and stress build-up. Intonga Amasatchi is a deep tissue and stress-relieving treatment. Skilful movements are performed with the hands, and differently sized wooden sticks are used to stretch tight muscles and ease toxic overload from daily stress. A treatment definitely recommended for stress release and total relaxation.

The spa rooms are surprisingly quiet and relaxing, considering that the spa is located on 4th Ave Pankhurst.

If you’re looking for a spot to get pampered, the Africology Spa in Parkhurst is a definite spot to visit!
