Reyka Vodka, created in the Icelandic town of Borgarnes, unveils the Reyka Equinox cocktail to enjoy while you gaze above the horizon. Leading into the warmer months in the North, Iceland’s volcanic core creates a myriad of hot springs and its natural water filtration system creates some of the world’s best water. It’s really this water that makes Reyka Vodka a fascinating drink of two halves and a special kind.
In a translation of Jesuit Canisius’ Catechism, an equinox is detailed to have first appeared in the 16th century, while a “solstice” appeared earlier in 1250. Witnessing the moment in which the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the centre of the sun, Reyka Vodka adopts the Equinox cocktail as one of the perfect serves in celebration of this occurrence. It’s the perfect drink to enjoy while enjoying your view of the magical autumnal equinox.
With a taste described as exceptionally smooth and rounded, with a soft natural sweetness and a slight hint of wild fruits, the Reyka Equinox cocktail is so refreshing it could trick you into thinking you’re “Að leggja höfuðið í bleyti” meaning “relaxingly laying your head in water”. Perhaps even the arctic spring water that Reyka is distinctively made from.
