Billions and billions of dollars is spent each year on research and development of skin products that will, hopefully, turn back the clock. Huge strides have been made in understanding the relationship between collagen, skin elasticity, and skin youthfulness. Some brands lead the way in developing new skincare technologies that take us that one step closer to retaining our youthful appearance; La Prairie is one such brand that has developed groundbreaking technologies for skin rejuvenation, care and maintenance.
But for many, these products are simply out of reach financially. A Channel 4 documentary entitled. “How The Rich Live Longer” presented a rather fascinating look at the lengths the wealthy will go to in order to increase their longevity and quality of life. If you thought that some beauty products are expensive, I can assure you that there are many, many other treatments, procedures, and bizarre rituals which cost far more than any cream or cleanser.
However, having said that, there persists a belief that the products developed by the handful of ultra premium beauty and skincare are simply too expensive for many to afford; and this is simply not the case. Yes, while La Prairie may have a R9600 Skin Caviar Absolute Filler (which is basically an incredibly good mini face tightener in a beautifully designed bottle), the brand also has a range of products that require less of an investment but which gives you access to their technologies.
While I am forever interested in trying new products, I, like any other skin care conscious individuals, follow the basics of skin care; my grooming ritual includes regular exfoliation, religiously cleansing twice a day, skin toning, applying a serum (depending on what I need on any given day), and moisturising (eyes, face, neck, and body – day and night) at every opportunity I can get. These are the bare minimums that people should be doing, if just to ensure that you remove dead skin cells from your face and neck, and that the skin is kept clean and dirt free, and that it is well moisturised. Just doing this will give you an significant advantage, but we must be aware that there are may things that impact on the youthfulness of our skin, such as skin damage from too much sun exposure, pollution, the food we eat, and a lot comes down to the programming within our DNA – how much collagen our body is programmed at birth to produce (but more about this in a later post).
But if you want to do the bare minimum using the best possible products to significantly increase your chances of having beautiful skin for longer, then I would suggest you consider these six La Prairie products that are affordable, and in some cases, far less expensive than other brands with similar products in the category.
